Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation demands 5 billion rubles from AFK Sistema

The Russian Ministry of Defense filed a lawsuit against AFK Sistema, the largest financial and industrial group of Russia's largest private defense concern. The department demands to collect from the organization almost 5 billion rubles, follows from the information published in the file of arbitration cases.

It follows from the statement that the agency filed a lawsuit on May 4. Details and reasons for the case, according to which the Ministry of Defense intends to sue the concern, are not specified. The total amount of claims - 4.965 billion rubles.

To RTI not yet received materials from the Arbitration Court, said RBC representative of the press service of RTI Konstantin Poltoranin. According to him, the concern does not know the essence of the claim.

"Therefore, we can not talk about the nature of the claims, about the details of this claim. We, just like you, see that the lawsuit is registered. But there are no assumptions about what the essence of claims may be, "Poltoranin said.

The source of RBC in the Ministry of Defense suggested that the claim is connected with the failure of the state defense order.

Earlier, the Arbitration Court of Bashkiria received a lawsuit from Rosneft and Bashneft to AFK Sistema and to Sistema-Invest to recover damages of 106.6 billion rubles. A day earlier, on May 10, the Moscow Arbitration Court returned this claim to companies without consideration. A source familiar with the case, Interfax, pointed out that the lawsuit filed on May 2 includes 57.2 billion rubles. For the loss of shares of Sistema-Invest, 36.9 billion rubles. Bashneft's debt and 12.5 billion rubles. The cost of buying out the company's shares from minority shareholders. As Mikhail Leontiev, a Rosneft spokesman, commented, "we are talking about organizational and financial manipulations that led to a depreciation of the asset for the specified amount." After that, the value of Sistema's shares fell by more than 30%.

The RTI concern belongs to AFK Sistema by 87% (Sovcombank owns 10%, and Sergey Boev, the chairman of the board of directors of the holding, has another 3%). The company is engaged in the creation of information tools for airborne ground defense and the organization of technical operation of missile and space defense. The concern is also the only manufacturer in the country of high-potential radar for over-horizon and over-horizon radar.
